Hugh Grant To Play Hornby Hero

HUGH GRANT is in talks to star in the adaptation of NICK HORNBY's latest novel ABOUT A BOY.

The NOTTING HILL star will play a wealthy, 36-year-old layabout whose fear of commitment leads him to seek out relationships with single mothers, on the grounds that they are easier to leave - but his plans go awry when he becomes friends with the 12-year-old son of his latest target.

The film will be helmed by CHRIS and PAUL WEITZ, the team behind teen comedy AMERICAN PIE. Hornby's two previous books, FEVER PITCH and HIGH FIDELITY have both been turned into hit films. (LE/HR/CPT)
