Producers of Baywatch Hawaii have given their staff writers the go-ahead to turn out scripts for an additional season -- even though the series has not yet been renewed, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported Friday.
The newspaper said that producers of the Pearson Television-produced series are planning to begin filming in February, should they be told in late January that they have been renewed, so that they can complete shooting a full 22-episode season before a possible strike by writers on May 1 and/or by actors on July 1.
The Star-Bulletin also reported that its humor columnist, Charles Memminger, has joined Baywatch's writing team, but will continue to turn out his three-times-a-week column.
