A Hong Kong church group has accused the Walt Disney Co. of contracting with toy factories in southern China at which workers are underpaid, overworked and sometimes exposed to highly dangerous conditions, Agence France Presse reported Saturday.
A report by the Christian Industrial Committee accused Disney of failing to inspect conditions at the plants of its contractors. The group said that its undercover inspectors had found that workers in the factories were paid the equivalent of $46-$80 a month for working between 13 and 17 hours a day, seven days a week.
