Resident Evil Is Next Game To Be Made Into A Film

Video game RESIDENT EVIL is to get the big-budget movie treatment - with glamour girl MILLA JOVOVICH as the heroine of the special effects spectacular. Hollywood is labelling the rush to make movies from electronic games as "gamania". TOMB RAIDER is now in post production. Resident Evil will be made in Berlin in the New Year (01) and focuses on a special military unit which battles an out-of-control supercomputer. To save the world the unit must combat hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating zombie-like creatures due to a laboratory accident.

Ukranian-born Jovovich shot to fame in DAZED AND CONFUSED and starred in MESSENGER: THE STORY OF JOAN OF ARC. She is best known for FIFTH ELEMENT. The ex-model, 25, will play ALICE, the ZOMBIE KILLER. A source says, "The rush is now officially on to put feasible video games and the like into movie stories. That's what the kids want and the 15-to-21 age group is all powerful. "We are getting to a level where movie makers are switching special effects keys and calling actors in for 10 minutes to act into thin air. Dialogue is at a premium." (RGS/WNWCAN)
