Universal's Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas has become the highest-grossing movie of 2000, surpassing Mission: Impossible II in only 33 days.
As of Wednesday, the film had brought in $216,418,280. In a statement, Universal's distribution chief Nikki Rocco said, "The Grinch is a textbook example of a mega-hit: a film that's been so embraced by the public that everyone feels they have to experience it, and many people are experiencing it over and over again. Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Jim Carrey have not only given us the film event of the holidays, but the film event of the year."
