Stars Hand Out Food For The Homeless

DEBBIE REYNOLDS and her daughter CARRIE FISHER made it a Christmas to remember for the homeless and down-and-outs in Los Angeles - by passing out food at the annual MIDNIGHT MISSION.

They were joined by MARY POPPINS star DICK VAN DYKE, who admitted he had a special reason to be there. He says, "I'm a reformed drunk, and I know what it's like to feel like you're never going to get out of the hole. You can go through that terrible despondency of drug and alcohol dependency and not know there's a way out. I'm here to tell them there's a way out."

Fisher adds, "I don't think Christmas necessarily is about things. It's about being good to one another. It's about the Christian ethic. It's about kindness."
