Infamous Diana Tapes Remain A Mystery

The infamous PRINCESS DIANA tapes that author ANDREW MORTON based his best-selling book on remain shrouded in secrecy - not even the star and producer of the film THE BIOGRAPHER was privy to them.

The film, which is set for release later this year (01), follows the author through the writing of his book DIANA: HER TRUE STORY and is based on Morton's real-life experiences with the Princess and the Royal Family.

Much of the communication between Morton and the Princess was conducted through the secret tapes that Diana would have delivered to the writer's door.

Speculation has mounted as to the tapes' existence and whereabouts but PAUL MCGANN - who plays Morton in the film - is adamant that they are real.

He says, "They do exist and it's strange that neither myself nor the producer ever heard them. After all I'm trying to base a character on Morton and the central theme in the movie is the iana tapes - yet all I got was edited transcripts.

"
I'm not sure why we never heard them because it can't be because of legal reasons because Morton owns them - they are his."

He adds, "
It would be really interesting to hear them in their entirety. It would be quite fascinating." (MAM/WN/MCM)
