Ridley Scott's French Film Fiasco

GLADIATOR director RIDLEY SCOTT and actor HARVEY KEITEL are suspicious of the French - but with reason.

Scott, the man behind ALIEN and BLADE RUNNER, fell foul of French bureaucracy whilst making his first film THE DUELLISTS, which starred Keitel. He says, "French customs exposed three cans of film right in front of me. "We pleaded with the guy to open them in the darkroom but he was so xenophobic, he did it there and then. I had to back and tell Harvey that we'd have to reshoot half the film. "I broke it to him as gently as I could, but he still went berserk and threw his dinner at the wall." (NFA/WNTEX/PDD)
