India's Information and Broadcasting Minister commented Wednesday that "there seems to be some nexus between cinema and the underworld," but that she hoped that the arrest of prominent Bollywood film backer Bharat Shah this week was only an "isolated incident."

She said that the Indian government had taken steps to encourage the film industry to seek loans from banks and other financial institutions and thereby "wean them away" from underworld links. "I have always been saying that good cinema and good money has a direct relationship," she told newsmen in Chennai, India Wednesday, the Times of India reported.
