Macho British actor VINNIE JONES infuriated movie bosses when he gave his first big American TV interview - and promoted the wrong film.

The spot, on chat king DAVID LETTERMAN's THE LATE SHOW, was lined up to promote SNATCH, which is released in the United States this week (ends19JAN01).

The former soccer hardman, 36, talked about his other flicks - LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, GONE IN 60 SECONDS and new film SWORDFISH - without mentioning Snatch once.

The only time the film, directed by GUY RITCHIE, got a mention was when Letterman talked about it just before he interviewed Vinnie on Monday night (15JAN01). Studio bosses are angered because they are accommodating him in a luxury Los Angeles, California hotel while he supposedly publicises the movie. (RGS/WNTST/PDD)
