SARAH JESSICA PARKER, TOM HANKS, RENEE ZELLWEGER, GEORGE CLOONEY and ROBERT DOWNEY JR all emerged victorious from this year's(01) GOLDEN GLOBE awards.
Parker, who won BEST ACTRESS for SEX IN THE CITY for the second year running, was almost speechless with astonishment when she collected her award - while Zellweger nearly missed picking up her's because she was in the bathroom reapplying her lipstick when her name was read out.
A thrilled JULIA ROBERTS took the BEST ACTRESS globe for ERIN BROKOVICH, running up on stage to hug presenter and pal DENZEL WASHINGTON before telling the audience, "I won. I'm just shamelessly filled with joy".
Other winners at last night's (21JAN01) star-packed event included FRASIER star KELSEY GRAMMER, GOLDIE HAWN's daughter KATE HUDSON and TRAFFIC star BENICIO DEL TORO.
JUDI DENCH, whose husband MICHAEL WILLIAMS died from lung cancer last week(ends19JAN01) was unable to collect her award in person but sent a statement apologising for her absence, adding, "I am grateful you have given me this award".
The celebrity crowd were brought to their feet when KEVIN SPACEY presented AL PACINO with the prestigious CECIL B DeMILLE award - and TOM HANKS, who picked up a BEST ACTOR award for CAST AWAY, paid tribute to Pacino in his acceptance speech.
Meanwhile, DAME ELIZABETH TAYLOR, presenting the final award for BEST MOTION PICTURE DRAMA, drew shouts of reproach from the audience for opening the envelope before she announced the nominees. With a little help from an stage hand, she finally announced the winner- GLADIATOR. The complete list of winners is as follows:
