Rhys Ifans Strikes Hollywood Gold

Welsh actor RHYS IFANS has landed a $1.5 million ( £1 million) role opposite double OSCAR-winner KEVIN SPACEY.

The NOTTING HILL star has been signed up by MIRAMAX to star in THE SHIPPING NEWS, playing NUTBEEM, an English journalist who works alongside Spacey on the GAMMY BIRD newspaper in Newfoundland, Canada.

A spokesman for Miramax says, "We are delighted to have secured Rhys. He has great comic ability." (NMD/WNTEX/KW)
