Humane Association Files Suit Against L.A Times

The American Humane Assn. has gone to court in an effort to block a planned Los Angeles Times article raising questions about an alleged conflict of interest over the group's relationship with movie producers and actors, the online magazine Inside reported Tuesday.

The Times report also allegedly touches on the 1999 ouster of AHA president Robert F.X. Hart. According to Inside, the AHA is seeking to have the court prevent the Times from publishing material contained in an internal investigation of those matters conducted by the Kutak Rock law firm. In its lawsuit, the AHA claims that the Kutak Rock report is covered by attorney-client privilege and was specifically marked, "Privileged and Confidential, Attorney-Client Communication and/or Work Product."
