Fan Group Boosts Deep Space Nine Feature

A second fan group is being organized on the Internet to push for another Star Trek feature film or miniseries.

In a statement issued on Friday, the group, which calls itself Horizons and claims to have signed up 3,800 supporters, said that its goal is to induce Paramount to produce a film or miniseries employing the cast of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which left the air in 1999 after a seven-year run. A separate group, Excelsior, mounted by self-described "Trek purists," has been lobbying Paramount to produce a feature or a new TV series that would "return the franchise to its roots." It is boosting George Takei, who played Sulu on the original series, for the lead.
