The Japanese Motion Pictures Producers Association said Wednesday that its domestic box office took in $1.5 billion in 2000, a 6.5-percent drop from the previous year. The top film of the year was Mission Impossible II, which earned $81 million, ahead of The Green Mile with $54.1 million. The decline in total box office came despite an increase in average ticket price to $10.50, the highest in the world.
