Solons Threatening New Laws Against Studios


Charging that the major movie and record companies have failed to announce policies that would halt the marketing of adult material to youngsters, Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman announced Thursday that he and Wisconsin Senator Herb Kohl are planning to introduce legislation next month that would empower the FTC to crack down on offending companies. In a statement, Lieberman said, "I had hoped that the entertainment industries would meet this challenge voluntarily, for self-regulation is the optimal solution. But if they are not going to act, we will."
