HANNIBAL has become the first film of 2001 to break the $100 million (£66 million) mark in America.
RIDLEY SCOTT's sequel to SILENCE OF THE LAMBS starring SIR ANTHONY HOPKINS and JULIANNE MOORE, has made $103.9 million (£69.2 million) in just ten days.
The horror flick has remained at the top of the American box- office charts for a second week, making $30 million (£20 million) over the weekend (begs17FEB01).
DOWN TO EARTH, a new comedy starring CHRIS ROCK, was second in the country's box office with $17.5 million (£11.6 million). (RP/WNWCAN/CPT)
