British star VINNIE JONES has won an acting award for his performance in hit movie SNATCH.
The footballer-turned actor, who played hardman BULLET TOOTH TONY, was named best British actor at the EMPIRE AWARDS 2001 in central London. Doing the double for Snatch, MADONNA's husband GUY RITCHIE was named best British director.
The other British movie to feature highly was BILLY ELLIOT, which was named best British film, with JULIE WALTERS getting the best British actress gong and 14-year-old JAMIE BELL getting an award for the best debut. Irish-born actor RICHARD HARRIS, whose films include A MAN CALLED HORSE, received his a lifetime achievement award - his second in less than a fortnight.
