JULIA ROBERTS' boyfriend BENJAMIN BRATT is the shock new name in the race to star opposite SHARON STONE in the BASIC INSTINCT sequel.
MICHAEL DOUGLAS, who originally starred alongside Stone, turned the role down, as did KURT RUSSELL, and it seems THIRTEEN DAYS star BRUCE GREENWOOD has also pulled out of the project. But the on-again-off-again movie looks set to be saved by MISS CONGENIALITY star Bratt, who will play a married analyst treating Stone's sociopath CATHERINE TRAMMEL.
Stone met with Bratt last week (ends02MAR01) and has been asked to approve her co-star, and that decision is expected this week (ends09MAR01). (KL/DV/CPT)
