How My Second Oscar Changed My Life- Michael Caine

Screen legend SIR MICHEAL CAINE has been inundated with awards since winning his second OSCAR and BAFTA FELLOWSHIP AWARD, last year (00).

He spent most of last year travelling the globe picking up gongs and lifetime achievement awards, many from people he feels had never acknowledged his work before. He says "Once you've got one, people go, 'Oh Christ, we'd better get ours in." But he had to struggle to get to this position, "The second Oscar is 10 times harder to get than the first one, and the circumstances in which I got it - you know, the standing ovation and all that - were quite mindboggling." "The first Oscar didn't alter anything much in the way of work. I just carried on. After this, the standard of scripts just zoomed up." Also, I was knighted, and that helps. They don't send bad scripts because they think, 'Oh, he's a sir, he won't do anything bad'." (KAB/WNSTIS/PDD)
