CAMERON CROWE allowed his mother ALICE to visit the set of latest movie ALMOST FAMOUS (2000) - on the strict instruction she didn't speak to actress FRANCES McDORMAND.
McDormand is nominated for an Oscar at this year's ceremony (01) for her role as the Cameron Crowe character's mother. But Alice insists McDormand must get all the praise for the role, because she did it all herself.
She says, "Cameron came over to me and said, 'Mum, I don't want you to talk to Frances, she's an Academy Award winning actress, she's a professional. She'll know how to play the part'." (SVD/WNV/NFA)
