Funny man STEVE MARTIN has been ordered by OSCARS bosses to tone down his X-rated opening speech.

The actor, who will host the awards in Los Angeles tonight (25 MARCH01), was asked to cut the sexually suggestive gags. An insider revealed, "Steve was furious but said if it had to go then he would make his own changes." (NQ/WNSSU/KW)
