JODIE FOSTER has made CANNES FILM FESTIVAL bosses very happy, by promising to put in an appearance.
The NELL star had originally promised to be jury president, but pulled out when she replaced an injured NICOLE KIDMAN in PANIC ROOM, The (2001) and filming commitments took precedence. But Foster has now promised to make a two-day visit to the festival.
Kidman ironically has been the first to confirm a visit - she will promote BAZ LUHRMAN's MOULIN ROUGE (2000), with co-stars EWAN McGREGOR and KYLIE MINOGUE.
LIV TYLER and CATE BLANCHETT are expected to promote Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001), while a new animated film, SHREK (2001), is set to be the first of its kind to be chosen for the main competition. The film features the voices of CAMERON DIAZ, EDDIE MURPHY and MIKE MYERS. (TH/WNBTE/NFA)
