McConaughey And Phillippe Head For The Wild West

Hollywood heart-throbs MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY and RYAN PHILLIPPE are to team up in a Wild West film.

SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993) helmer RON HOWARD will direct the hunky pair in PRETENDERS, the (2001).

The film is about two cousins who head to San Francisco to make their fortune in 1873. A studio exec says, "McConaughey will play the older, wiser of the couple, restraining the precocious character played by Ryan. "It's escapist fun aimed at the younger age group." (NFA/WNWCAN/ES)
