Actor GERARD DEPARDIEU's bad boy son GUILLAUME became so engrossed in his new movie POLA X that he and co-star DELPHINE SHUILLOT got carried away in simulated sex scenes - and did it for real.

The 29-year-old actor admits the act was a little extreme, but he and Shuillot, who plays his girlfriend in the stark drama, felt it was the only way to film the steamy scenes and make them look authentic.

He says, "I had sex with this woman. It wasn't very easy. The director wanted the scene in the movie and I thought it was very important for the story.

"I don't like my body so it was very hard for me to play this, but Delphine really helped me, she coached me. I won't go into details but she knew how to make it happen for both of us."

Depardieu, who has since wed French actress ELISE CENTRE, and is due to become a father for the first time this Christmas (00), admits even his father, who himself has appeared in a number of risque roles, advised him against playing the part of a doom-laden writer who gives up his life in France to search for his half-sister.

Guillaume adds, "My friends and family thought it would be dangerous for me because it was a very long and hard role and I could lose myself with this part. It wasn't dangerous but it did take a lot out of me."
