Jim Carey Gives George Harrison A Lift After Cancer Surgery

GEORGE HARRISON is getting help in recovering from his cancer surgery from his pal JIM CARREY. The former BEATLE announced last week (ends04MAY01) that he'd had a cancerous nodule removed from one of his lungs at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, America, and caring Carrey, a massive Beatles fan, loaned the ailing star his private jet so he could fly to Italy to recuperate with his wife OLIVIA. According to American tabloid THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER, Harrison told friends, "Jim's been a great source of support for both me and Olivia throughout this ordeal. " And friends say Carrey was one of the few people that Harrison, who underwent a similar operation in 1997, trusted enough to admit he was suffering from lung cancer and facing more surgery. "It's been an awful time for George, but he's a survivor," says a pal. "Now he's trying to recuperate - and he can thank Jim Carrey for giving him a lift. " (LE/NE/EP)
