Melanie Griffith has been signed to portray Julia Roberts in a film based on Roberts' friendship with Irish chauffeur Mick Devine, who befriended her following her 1991 breakup with Kiefer Sutherland, according to ShowBizIreland.com.
The online entertainment site said that Griffith's agent had confirmed the story. Paralleling in many ways the storyline of Roberts' Notting Hill, the movie, titled Limo Man, is likely to feature Brendan Gleeson in the role of Devine, according to the online site.
The limousine driver is quoted as saying that since the 1991 episode, he and his wife have become great friends with Roberts. "We even went over and stayed in her house in Hollywood. She is always on the phone and always sends me letters from all over the world."
Roberts' reaction to the planned film was not indicated.
