The two sides in the expected Hollywood actors strike have until midnight on Saturday (30JUN01) to reach a deal.

If negotiations fail, the contract between the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD and the ALLIANCE OF MOTION PICTURE AND TELEVISION PRODUCERS ends.

Members of the actor's union are now hoping to prologue talks for a few more days - to avoid calling a strike. SAG chief negotiator, BRIAN WALTON says that he remains "cautiously optimistic" that a deal can be made. (IG/WNWCAN/RP)
