TOM CRUISE's new bald hairstyle is a declaration of his joy of finally splitting with his wife NICOLE KIDMAN. According to friends of the TOP GUN (1986) star, Cruise's new shaven look symbolises his new life as a Tinseltown bachelor who's ready to "let his hair down".

And he proved just how wild he can be when he held his 39th birthday bash at the exclusive BUFFALO CLUB in Santa Monica, California, on 6 July (01) and danced around in a woman's wig, jumped on pal CUBA GOODING JR.'s back and partied relentlessly. A pal says,

"Tom's glad to finally be away from Nicole. And he's looking forward to being a bachelor again. He used to tell us that he felt like he was under Nicole's thumb all the time he was living with her. He'd call her 'the Duchess' behind her back. If we wanted to do something with him, he'd tell us, 'I have to check with the Duchess. ' The birthday bash was his way of showing that he's a new man and that he's anxious to get on with his single life. "

Two hundred showbiz friends - including ROB LOWE, EMILIO ESTEVEZ, JIM CARREY and BEN STILLER - showed up to have join in the celebrations.
