The premiere of GLITTER (2001) will see MARIAH CAREY facing the world again. The troubled singer is still in hospital after a failed suicide attempt, but has told aides that she will be at the Glitter (2001) launch in Los Angeles on 21 September (01).

A friend of Mariah's says, "She's getting stronger every day and feels she will be OK to go to the opening night. The doctors are not really keen but she doesn't want to let her fans down. "

The LOVERBOY star was admitted to New York's Northern Westchester Hospital Center after slashing her wrist last week (beg 30JUL01) following a bust-up with boyfriend LUIS MIGUEL. Aides had originally claimed she had slipped on broken plates in her suite. (ACW/WNTSU/RP)
