Jeweller Scoffs At Pitt And Aniston Lawsuit

An Italian jewellery designer who made BRAD PITT and JENNIFER ANISTON's wedding rings has dismissed the couple's lawsuit against him as meritless.

Pitt and Aniston sued DAMIANI INTERNATIONAL for $50 million (£38. 4 million) in a federal court in Los Angeles last month (JUL01), claiming the designer violated an agreement not to reproduce their wedding bands and Aniston's engagement ring.

The Hollywood stars allege Damiani exploited their image as a couple to sell copies of the rings on the internet, at a Damiani dealership in Palm Desert, California, and at Las Vegas' VENETIAN HOTEL. But GUIDO DAMIANI, the company's CEO and general manager, says,

"There has never been any type of agreement or contract between Damiani and Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston prohibiting or limiting the marketing of the jewellery in question. "

Damiani also rejects Pitt's contention that he personally designed the rings, adding, "Furthermore, the Damiani wedding bands are original and innovative creations by Damiani and the designs are patented and registered to Damiani. " (RGS/LA/NFA)
