LATEST: Movie star ALEC BALDWIN has set his fan's minds at rest - he will not be leaving America whatever the outcome of the impending Presidential election.

Baldwin's wife KIM BASINGER was quoted yesterday (18SEPT00) by the world's news services, saying her husband would leave the country if GEORGE W BUSH succeeds BILL CLINTON as President.

But this morning (19SEPT00) Baldwin declared the quotes, which originated from German magazine FOCUS, were entirely bogus. He says, "I never said I'd leave the country, and my wife never heard of Focus magazine and never talked to them."

But the star claims that, if Bush does win, he'll dedicate his time to raising as much money as he can, to ensure his term of office is as short as possible.
