British director GUY RITCHIE is desperately homesick after moving to Los Angeles for the American leg of wife MADONNA's DROWNED WORLD tour. The SNATCH (1999) movie-maker has made marathon phone calls to his mates back in Britain, complaining of boredom and loneliness.

One sympathetic pal says, "He's fed up with living over there and desperately wants to come back to the UK. I dread to think what his phone bill must be like. He misses his mates more than anything and has made up his mind never to live permanently in America. "

The friend adds that Guy also "can't bear the health-conscious, politically correct ways of LA". To keep himself occupied, the lonely director is toiling away on the script for his next movie, SWEPT AWAY, in which Madonna will star. (KW/WNTEX/MCM)
