Oscars May Not Get A New Home

The OSCAR ceremony may have to wait another year before moving to its new Hollywood home, after security concerns spooked the organisers. The ACADEMY OF MOTION PICTURE ARTS AND SCIENCES confirmed it has set a deadline for the developers of the new KODAK THEATRE to meet strong security deadlines.

Among the sticking points are the extent of security sweeps of stores lining the route from Hollywood Boulevard and the theatre, parking spaces for press members, and the amount of time allowed for the customary walk into the theatre.

Officials insist last Tuesday's (11SEP01) terrorist attacks are not involved in this decision. If the Kodak Theatre does not live up to security stipulations, the awards will return to the SHRINE AUDITORIUM in downtown Los Angeles. (SVD/DV/NFA)
