SUPERMAN (1978) actor CHRISTOPHER REEVE is hopeful he will walk again after being left paralysed after a horse-riding accident. The popular actor, married to DANA MOROSINI REEVE, is forced to breathe through a ventilator tube in his throat since the accident in 1995.
The star has founded the CHRISTOPHER REEVE PARALYSIS FOUNDATION to research ways to find a cure for others suffering with similar conditions. Christopher says, "I came to terms with being disabled a long time ago. I refuse to let it define me. I know there's a cure coming for the kind of injury I have. In the past three years we've seen the emergence of an amazing tool for regenerating spinal cord tissue. "
The star of the Superman trilogy hopes medical science will help him to walk again. "What I hope will happen is that the injection will start an improvement that will work its way down the spinal cord. I'm not saying that I might be able to run again, but I'd be happy just to use a walker. " (JLM/WNBTE/ES)
