The Return Of The Wicker Man

Cult 1973 thriller Wicker Man, The (1973) is set for two remakes to mark its 30th anniversary. Nurse Betty (2000) director Neil LaBute is set to adapt the classic Edward Woodward movie, which was set in Scotland, with Nicolas Cage as his leading man.

Meanwhile, original director Robin Hardy and star Christopher Lee are working on their own update, titled The Riding Of The Laddie. Lee, who played an evil community leader in the original - about a cop investigating the disappearance of a girl in an isolated community of mysterious pagans - once called the Wicker Man the best film he'd ever made.

In the remake, Lee would play a preacher. Director Hardy says Vanessa Redgrave is set to play Lee's wife, while his Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001) co-star Sean Astin may also join the project.
