Natalie Portman: I Barely Get Recognised

Stunning Hollywood actress Natalie Portman barely ever gets
recognised in the street - despite her celebrity status.
The Leon actress, 20, says taking the lead role in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999) didn't lead to the mobbings she expected.
She says, "I was imagining myself walking down the streets and
being mobbed and not being able to go anywhere alone at any time. But I still have my anonymity."

"I get recognised maybe once a week, which is really not a big
deal considering how big that film was."

But Natalie says the film did have one major effect on her life -
it made children look up to her far more.
She says, "Probably the best thing that has come out of it is
that it's a really great kid's movie and to be able to affect
children in that way is such a gift."

"I can go to children's hospitals now, and it's exciting for them
to have Queen Amidala visit - and that's the only situation in
which I like to be seen as a movie star because it makes them feel better."
