Star Wars Still Holds Boxoffice Top Spot


Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002) is still pulling in the viewers in America after a bumper Memorial Day weekend (24-27 MAY 2002).
The Overall ticket sales for the bank holiday surpassed last
year's record, according to studio estimates issued on
Monday (27 MAY 2002).

Star Wars earned $61.2 million (£43.7 million) for the four
days beginning 24 May, taking its 12-day total to a staggering
$202.5 million (£144.6 million).
Spider-Man (2002) stays in second place with an weekend $36.5 million (£26 million) take, while Al Pacino's new movie Insomnia (2001) and Disney's latest animated feature Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron (2002) debuted with $26.2 million (£18.7 million) and $23 million (£16.4 million) respectively.

Jennifer Lopez's new film Enough (2001) also had a healthy opening weekend, coming in at number five with $17.5 million (£12.5 million).
