Denzel Washington will bring his debut film as a director to the Toronto International Film Festival.

Festival organisers have announced it will enjoy a Gala presentation during the event which starts on September 5th.

Antwone Fisher is the story of a hot-tempered sailor whose visit to a naval psychiatrist starts him on the road to emotional healing.

The Fox Searchlight production stars newcomer Derek Luke. It also features Denzel Washington, Joy Bryant and Salli Richardson.

The festival also announced that its regular Masterclass for industry professionals will feature Canadian director Ivan Reitman and Composer Mychael Danna.
