Dame Judi Dench was the star attraction at the premiere of Importance of Being Earnest, The (2002) as she signed autographs and posed for photographers.

The premiere was held at the Odeon West End cinema, where other guests at the opening night of the adaptation of Oscar Wilde's comedy included Rupert Everett and Jade Jagger (who arrived on a Soho rickshaw), Helena Bonham Carter, Ruby Wax, Angus Deayton, Frances O'Connor, Tom Wilkinson and Anna Massey.

The film's director Oliver Parker was said to have been happy with the production and the way that it kept the essence of the original theatre version.
