The much-delayed sequel to the Mad Max films may go into production later next year.
The £68 million drama - Fury Road- was originally due to have begun filming in Namibia in May, but was postponed because of the Iraq war and security concerns.
It has not been possible to re-schedule the shoot for Fury Road since then because Mel Gibson has been involved in completing "The Passion," his controversial film about the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus Christ.
"He's knee-deep in the editing room, daily, working really hard," a colleague of Gibson's, who refused to be named, said.
It's 25 years since Mel Gibson first appeared as Mad Max. It will be directed by George Miller, who also directed Mad Max.
