Sharon Stone has reportedly been offered a starring role as the female villain in Catwoman.

The part would pit her against Halle Berry, who is tipped to take the title role in the Warner Bros movie, directed by French director Pitof.

Stone's character Laurel is both the public face of a cosmetics company as well as the brains behind an evil operation she runs with her husband.

Josh Lucas is thought to have been approached for the role of Detective Lone, Catwoman's love interest, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Stone is currently filming Cold Creek Manor (2003), opposite Dennis Quaid. It is her first movie role in more than two years.
