New King Kong 'much darker'

The remake of King Kong will be much darker than the original, one of its leading actors claims.

Jack Black told MTV that he had just read the script, which was 'scary as hell', says Teletext.

The actor, who plays impresario Carl Denham in the film, said: "He's not gonna to be sweet and cuddly. It's not gonna be cute. He's a carnivore, as in, eats flesh!"

The remake of the horror classic is being directed by Peter Jackson and filmed, like his Lord of the Rings trilogy, in New Zealand.

Along with Black, the film also stars Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody.

Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the Lord of the Rings, will be providing the movements for the computer-generated ape.
