MICHAEL J FOX has taken up smoking in a bid to ease his Parkinson's Disease pain.

According to America's NATIONAL ENQUIRER magazine, the former SPIN CITY star has been spotted regularly puffing cigarettes at posh functions to talk about his debilitating disease.

One onlooker says, "He smoked like a chimney. I was shocked considering he has Parkinson's Disease." But sources say Fox isn't being careless by taking up the habit - because smoking can actually help the symptoms of his illness. The source adds, "There's scientific evidence that nicotine might alleviate Parkinson's and other neurological conditions, including Alzheimer's."
