Justin Timberlake is to star in a new film, Alpha Dog, with Sharon Stone and Emile Hirsch.

The Hollywood Reporter says he's already signed up to star in the film for director Nick Cassavetes.

It will be Timberlake's first film project since his debut in the upcoming Edison, alongside Kevin Spacey, Morgan Freeman, LL Cool J and Piper Perabo.

Alpha Dog is inspired by the real-life story of Jesse James Hollywood, played by Hirsch, a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever on the FBI's most wanted list.

Timberlake will play the best friend of Hirsch's character, while Stone will play the mother of one of the leads.
