Kidman lined up for Shanghai project

Nicole Kidman is being lined up to star in a new film for acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai.

The Hong Kong director wants to work with Kidman on a project with the working title, The Lady from Shanghai, reports Screen Daily.

Wong's long-time collaborator, production designer and editor William Chang Suk-ping, is currently meeting with Kidman to discuss her character and the look of the film.

The story is set in 1930s Shanghai, a setting and era that the Shanghai-born director is known to be interested in.

Wong reportedly writes scripts as he shoots and is renowned for keeping actors in the dark about their characters. He spent five years shooting 2046.
