George Clooney and Cate Blanchett are in talks to star in a new romantic thriller set in post-war Germany.

The Good German will be directed by Steven Soderbergh, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is about an American journalist sent to report on the Allied summit meeting deciding the future of Germany following the Second World War.

But he is secretly there to track down a lost love.

The reporter is then plunged into a murder mystery when the body of a US soldier is washed up in the Russian zone.
