London to host day-long Star Wars marathon

London is to host a day-long celebration for the premiere of the final Star Wars film.

The May 16 event in Leicester Square will feature a special marathon showing of all six Star Wars movies.

Tickets for the movie marathon at the UCI Empire cinema go on sale on 25 April, priced £50.

The premiere of the last instalment in the Star Wars saga, Revenge Of The Sith, takes place at the Odeon Leicester Square in the evening.

Guests of honour will include director George Lucas, Hayden Christensen, who plays Anakin Skywalker, Anthony Daniels, who is C-3PO, and Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew.

The 501st UK Garrison of Stormtroopers will be on duty all day to ensure order is upheld in the Square.

"Revenge Of The Sith is a remarkable movie, and this extraordinary celebration reflects the fun and excitement that are the hallmarks of Star Wars,"said the movie's producer, Rick McCallum.

"The Star Wars movies have a strong connection to the United Kingdom, so it's very fitting to hold this one-of-a-kind event here in London."

The Star Wars Marathon at UCI Empire starts at 7am with Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. Fans will also be able to buy tickets for each individual movie screening throughout the day.
