Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson has been named the most powerful person in Hollywood.

Premiere magazine's June issue says the 43-year-old New Zealand-born director is one of the few "one man band productions that are changing the grid of the power structure" in Tinseltown.

Producer-director Steven Spielberg is at No. 2. Steve Jobs and John Lasseter, heads of Pixar animations company fall from last year's No. 1 spot to third.

Star Wars creator-director George Lucas is at No. 11.

Among the actors on the list are Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Will Smith and Johnny Depp.
