David Duchovny has separated from his wife of 11 years, actress Téa Leoni, it has been reported.

People magazine published a statement on behalf of the pair confirming the split, saying they had "in fact been separated for several months".

Duchovny, who plays a womanising writer on the TV show Californication, recently left rehab after completing a course for sex addiction.

The couple have a 9-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son together.
